* Stephen Pledger and Mary Holcomb Pledger
moved to the 2nd Civil District, White Co., TN from NC for a brief period
before returning to NC and are listed there in the 1860 Census. During
their sojourn in TN, a Lumbee Indian, Murdoc Lowry (age 27), brother of
Outlaw Henry Berry Lowry/Lowrie was living with them as a hired hand.
Lowery is listed as mulatto in 1860 Census records. Lowery did not
return with the Pledger family to NC, but appears in the 1880 White Co.,
TN census living with a different family.
