Most of this stone was lying under a thick bush which had to be held back while photograph was being taken, hence the shadow.   

Inscription reads:

To the memory of Carter Peyton, son of A. H. Shepperd and Martha P. T. Shepperd
he was born July 21, 1853
died June 26, 1855
