DANIEL WINDSOR

"Mr. W. resides midway between Alexandria and Gilman and near the Lake Erie Railroad in Monroe township. He was born in the old tar state, North Carolina, July 12, 1840. His father's name was W. W. Windsor; mother's name before marriage was Sarah Day. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Windsor were married February 6, 1886. She was born in Madison County, December 27, 1846, daughter of John G. Wilson. Her mother's name was Susan Busby, daughter of Isaac Busby, an early settler of Madison county. Daniel Windsor and wife have no children, and are highly respected members of society, and also of the Baptist Church at Mt. Pisgah.  Mr. Windsor enlisted in Company D., Thirty-fourth Indiana Volunteers, October, 1864, and was in the battle of Palmetto Ranch, but mostly on post duty. He was discharged at Brownsville, Texas, October 14, 1865. His Captain's name was Joshua Fussell, Colonel Jones. They have a pleasant home, where they welcome their many friends."

In this same book on pages 86-87 there is an identical write-up for a David Windsor...same father and mother, same dates, same army service. This is obviously a mix-up, and could indicate Daniel's name was Daniel David.

William W. Windsor -- no trace of him in the 1840 or 1850 Surry census. (Could be in Iredell).

OBITUARY IN WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL

BLANKENSHIP YADKINVILLE -- Mrs. Inez Windsor Blankenship, 86, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Willowbrook Health Care. She was born in Forsyth County on Aug. 19, 1913, to the late Raymeur and Della Windsor Windsor. She was retired from Hanes Hosiery Mill and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was married to Clyde C. Blankenship, who preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Blankenship; a daughter, Clydine Blankenship; three brothers; and a sister. Mrs. Blankenship is survived by a son, James V. Blankenship of Statesville; a daughter, Shirley Shore of Conover; a brother, Homer Windsor of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Eloise Thompson and Delphine Britt, both of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at  7:30 p.m. Friday evening, at Reavis Funeral Home Yadkinville Chapel. Burial will be at New Hope Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Reavis Funeral Home Yadkinville Chapel. Reavis Funeral Home Yadkinville Chapel is serving the Blankenship family.
